Joseph R. Poletti

For 37 years my jobs as an educational professional have included classroom teacher (11 yrs), instructional technology facilitator, state department consultant, university program administrator, athletic director, Central Services director of media/technology/other programs (6 yrs), and school administrator. I am principal of MaST Early College and Director of Strategic Innovation for the school system.  I  served as principal of West Carteret HS for four years, following two years as principal of East Carteret HS, following six years as principal of Croatan HS.

I am/have been associated with the following professional organizations:

  • Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development
  • North Carolina School Library Media Association
  • North Carolina Association of Education and Communication Technology
  • North Carolina Athletic Directors Association
  • North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals Association
  • North Carolina Association of School Administrators.

I was a member of the original advisory board for North Carolina Virtual Public School. For seven years, I served on the board of directors for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and am a past president. I am on the advisory board for The North Carolina State Employees' Credit Union (Morehead City).  I am a charter member and vice-president of Coastal Bike Impact

I serve on the following committees:

I hold degrees from Appalachian State University, The Catholic University of America, and East Carolina University. My Certificate of Advanced Studies is from East Carolina University. My wife and I have three children, all of whom attended West Carteret High School. One graduated from West; the other two, The North Carolina School of Science and Math. They hold degrees from the University of North Carolina, North Carolina State University (2), Northeastern University (2), and Saint Louis University.

I have been Carteret County Assistant Principal of the Year, Carteret County Principal of the Year, and NCHSAA Principal of the Year.
